THE GARDEN OF GEMS
Through a journey into Italian Art we’ve sought to unite the elegance of the
Renaissance with the lavish Baroque style, inspired by artists creating refined
compositions with extreme mastery and with the same care that we have always
put into our chocolate!
Thus was born our new “Gems” collection celebrating Italian art and beauty
through an homage to the technique of commesso fiorentino, a prestigious
form of decoration characterised by attention to detail and the use of precious
materials.
This refined technique has ancient origins, deriving from the art of opus sectile
used in the Roman era. Perfected in Florence during the Medicean period, it then
spread across Italy over the course of the 1500s. Marbles, granites and gemstones
are beautifully combined in a flawless work of refining and polishing. The result is
a work of art so meticulously detailed it could be an oil painting.
Using gradients, the interplay of shadows and colour combinations, artists concoct
a magnificent mosaic with inlays, creating elegant compositions of flowers, fruits
and animals...a real homage to nature’s many languages!
Artists transform rough stones into bright, colourful flowers...in the same way, we
are inspired by the purest ingredients selected to create real works of chocolate
art!
